CALCIUM ALGINATE DRESSING

The AlgiHeal™ Alginate Dressing is a natural dressing derived from seaweed fibers, designed for moderately to heavily exuding wounds.

Key Features:

High Absorbency: Capable of absorbing 10-20 times its weight, maintaining a moist wound environment.
Gel Formation: Absorbs wound exudates to form a gel-like covering, promoting faster healing and hemostasis.
Non-Adherent: The gel surface prevents sticking to the wound bed, ensuring painless removal.

Mechanism of Action:

Upon application, the dressing undergoes ion-exchange between calcium in the dressing and sodium from the exudate, forming a soluble calcium/sodium alginate gel. This gel amplifies the clotting cascade, reducing bleeding during surgical interventions.

Indications:

Pressure ulcers
Diabetic ulcers
Surgical wounds
Traumatic wounds
Donor sites
Burns (1st and 2nd degree)

Contraindications:

Not recommended for dry wounds.
Not suitable for infected wounds.
Not recommended for wounds requiring surgical hemostasis.

Usage Guidelines:

Single Use: Do not use if the package is damaged.
Duration: Do not leave the dressing on the wound for more than 7 days; continuous use should not exceed 30 days.
Removal: If redness or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use.
