Mechanism of Action:
Upon contact with wound fluid, AlgiHeal AG™ transforms into a soft gel that conforms to the wound bed and helps maintain a moist environment conducive to healing. The dressing absorbs excess exudate while the silver ions provide sustained antimicrobial activity, helping control bacterial burden and support the wound-healing process.
Indications:
AlgiHeal AG™ Alginate Dressing is intended for the management of wounds, including:
- Traumatic wounds
- Pressure ulcers
- Diabetic wounds
- Leg ulcers
- Graft and donor sites
- Post-operative surgical wounds
Contraindications:
- Patients with known sensitivity or allergy to silver
- Not intended for use on third degree burns
Instructions for Use:
1. Clean the wound with sterile saline water and dry surrounding skin gently.
2. Select the appropriate size of the dressing to cover the wound adequately.
3. Apply the dressing to the wound, ensuring full contact with the wound bed.
4. Cover and secure dressing (non-adhesive) with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.
5. Dressing change frequency will depend on patient condition and the level of exudates. Initially it may be necessary to change dressing every 24 hours or until saturated.
6. Gently remove the secondary dressing. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline water prior to removal.
